Safest Cars for 2015
When looking to buy a new vehicle, there are many different qualities to look for such as reliability, fuel economy, and how safe it is. Purchasing a new car is a big investment and it is important to do your research well in advance so you can compare features of different cars. At the beginning of every year, tests are performed to see what cars are the safest for that model year. Here is a list of some of the safest cars for 2015.
2015 Subaru Legacy
For years the Subaru Legacy has been regarded as one of the safest cars on the road, and 2015 is no exception. This car has received a “Superior” front crash prevention rating on models equipped with the optional EyeSight system. EyeSight has the ability to detect items in front of the car and actually stops the car to help avoid or lessen the impact of any frontal collisions. Not only is the 2015 Legacy safe to drive, but it is also safe on your wallet starting at only $26,000.
2015 Volvo S60
Based on the test results and crash ratings from the federal government and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2015 Volvo S60 is arguably one of the safest cars on the market. Volvo prides itself on their exceptional crash test results. The S60 received a perfect 5 star rating from the federal government and “Good” results in every IIHS category. The Volvo S60 is a top performer as far as safety results, and it also has some of the lowest rates of injury related insurance losses among luxury sedans.
2015 Mazda 3
According to thecarconnection.com, “The 2015 Mazda 3 is a charming family of compact sedans and hatchbacks, and it already earns our recognition as one of the best-looking, most fun to drive cars in its class”. Not only does the Mazda 3 get high praise for its looks and charm, but it is also one of the safest cars tested. The Mazda 3 comes equipped with Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alerts. The Mazda 3 also has a Forward Collision Warning System that uses laser technology to anticipate collisions similar to the Subaru EyeSight system.
2015 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
The Mercedes-Benz M-Class has had some of the lowest rates of injuries and fatalities for many years. The M-Class has scored very high in both the Federal and IIHS tests. One of the unique safety features of the M-Class is Attention Assist which can warn you if it thinks you are too tired while driving. Also, the M-Class has an optional Pre-Safe Brake feature that is part of their Driver Assist package. The Mercedes-Benz M-Class received all “Superior” ratings from the IIHS.
2015 Chrysler 200
Chrysler’s 200 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick and received 5 stars in every category. The Chrysler 200 went through a complete redesign for the 2015 model year (which I think looks great), and along with a facelift, it was greatly improved in the safety department. The 2015 200 received “Superior” ratings for having front crash prevention, along with an optional Safety Tec package that includes Full Speed Forward Collision Plus. The Safety Tec package is only offered in the top of the line 200C.
Having a safe car is high on the priority list for most consumers. Cars today have so many features that were designed to make our driving experience safer, easier, and more enjoyable. I don’t know about you, but I think the technology in modern automobiles is incredible. When you started driving did you think cars would have the ability to stop themselves? The improved safety features in many new cars today helps lessen the damage from many accidents, reduce the number of fatalities, and possible lower your car insurance premium.
