Meriden Annual Christmas in the Village
Meriden’s annual Christmas in the Village event is this Saturday, December 6th on Main Street. The festivities will start at 2:00 with the Santa Parade, and conclude at 5:30 pm. Along with the parade there will be horse drawn carriage rides, tree lighting, a bonfire, and plenty of food. Also, children will have the chance to talk with Santa and take a picture with jolly old St. Nick.
Did you know that Christmas in the Village was almost canceled this year? Yes it’s true; Christmas in the Village was almost not going to happen. In fact, the event was officially canceled at the beginning of the year due to liability reasons. Upon hearing this news, the Meriden community came together and planned to raise money to support the event. One way the residents of Meriden were able to raise money was through a car show, and this helped allow Christmas in the Village to happen.
Christmas in the Village has been an event that not only residents of Meriden, but also neighboring towns look forward to every year. It is a great family event and children will have plenty of fun. The event is free to anyone so make sure you stop by for some holiday family fun!
If you plan on attending the event, the Meriden Soup Kitchen will be accepting canned food donations and this will enter you for a chance to win raffle prizes.
