Did You Know?

Did you know that using your cars air conditioning can lower the gas mileage! You heard right when you are trying to cool off on your long ride to work, or picking your kids up from soccer the movement of the car is not the only thing guzzling gas. You may be shocked but alot of the different systems in your car utilize gas besides the actual movement of the car. So for an monetary reductions in your monthly spending here are some tips:
-Car pool: we all know that 3 people in one car takes up way less gas than 3 people in 3 cars. Find a friend, or meet someone new on your commute to work; you can make new friends while saving money and the environment.
-Wear lighter clothing: in color and in volume a short-sleeved shirt will cause you to use less and air and less gas. Additionally whites and light blues attract less sun then dark brown, and black clothing; so if you are trying to cool down in the summer pick a lighter color and if you are trying to warm up in the winter go dark.
-Put the windows down: although a correlation exists between lower gas mileage and low windows you can still save more money on rolling down the windows than turning up the air conditioning.
-Do not drive out of your way: always take the most direct route home if traffic agrees. Never go out of your way to get something you do not need, and when you are out make a point to get everything you need done in one trip.
-Plan fun things at home: If you have things to do at your house you will be more inclined to stay there and travel less saving gas costs.
However you plan to save make sure that you are being economically smart with your spending’s. Do not ration too much money for gas you do not even need to use.
