Homeowners Insurance during Renovations

My house is undergoing renovations and one thing I learned throughout this is that my homeowners insurance will now sky rocket. I’m not sure why I didn’t think of this before, maybe with all the hustle of the renovations taking place, but it is definitely going to increase once this project is over.I spoke with Jen, our personal lines manager here at Ion Insurance and during small talk it came up with adding square footage to your home, your homeowner’s insurance increases. I know this may be very familiar for quite a few of you but it just completely slipped my mind.
With the addition, essentially adding another home to our already existing home, I know we want to make sure we have the best of homeowners insurance we can. This renovation, pictured above, has been happening for months. Adding bedrooms and bathrooms, a bigger kitchen and a new living room and a deck makes me want to make sure I have coverage at all times. What took so long to build and plan would be ridiculously ignorant to not have the proper coverage that my home needs.
Homeowners insurance is not only piece of mind it should be the first thing that is being thought of when buying a home. So much can happen and as a homeowner we all have experienced a few and nothing is better than the relief of knowing homeowners insurance will help keep you protected.
