Personal lines insurance is Homeowners, Auto, Rental, Personal umbrella, Health and so on. It is not for commercial purposes but rather for an individual or families.
Personal lines usually function based on risk, premiums and eligibility and there are monthly premiums based on the risk that covered events will occur. The lower the risk then the lower the premiums the policy holders have to pay. Often, policyholders will have to pay a deductible before the insurance starts covering expenses. 
The advantages of personal lines insurance are that it helps protect individuals and families from accidents and loss of property. Sometimes personal lines are required to obtain property in the first place, for proof of insurance. With all that personal lines covers it is a great idea to be protected.
